Ben Cavarra takes at look at all the games in round 14 of the TAC Cup.
Calder Cannons vs. Oakleigh Chargers, Highgate Recreation Reserve:
Both teams are fresh off a weekends break, and should come out firing. Oakleigh have lost the past two games by an average margin of 25 points and will look to change their recent form with a win. Calder won their last game by 38 points over the Ranges, and will look to continue their good form. Ozgur Uysal of the Cannons has continued his recent good form, kicking four goals last weekend in a best on ground performance, while Daniel Pierce has been in great form, being named in the best on the past three occasions.
Murray Bushrangers vs. Gippsland Power, Highgate Recreation Reserve:
The weekends break couldn’t have come at a better time for the Bushrangers, after losing their past four matches. They will be coming out looking to beat Gippsland, who have won their past two games by an average margin of 59 points, and are sitting on top of the ladder - only 2 points clear of Sandringham. These two teams are separated on the ladder by 7 games, and if the Bushrangers want to stay in finals contention, this is a must win game.
Bendigo Pioneers vs. Northern Knights, Epsom Huntly Reserve:
Bendigo are sitting bottom of the ladder, and will be looking to make the most of their last few games. They come up against the Northern Knights, who had the first draw of the season last week in their clash against Sandringham Dragons. The Knights led all day against the Dragons and will be looking to get the four points over the Pioneers this week. The Knights are still in finals contention (% outside the top 8), but with only a few more games to go, they will need to win games like this.
Sandringham Dragons vs. Eastern Ranges, Shepley Oval:
Eastern have lost their past two games, they will come out looking to change their form against the Dragons who come off a draw against the Northern Knights. The Ranges welcome back their captain Jonathon Patton who has kicked 22 goals in 7 matches this year, and has kicked 3 or more goals on five occasions. Darcy Brown was the best for the Dragons in their draw against the Knights, and he will be looking to continue his good form.
North Ballarat Rebels vs. Western Jets, Eureka Stadium:
The Western Jets are up and about after winning their past 4 games; they haven’t played finals for a few years, so they will be fighting hard to cement a spot in the top eight. The Rebels have won the past two games, and are sitting comfortably in fourth position on the ladder. Nicholas O’Brien kicked 6 goals in their last game in a best on ground performance, while William Hoskin-Elliott kicked 1 goal and was the best player for the Jets in their last game.
Dandenong Stingrays vs. Geelong Falcons, Shepley Oval:
Geelong is two games clear of Dandenong on the ladder, but the Stingrays have won their past two games and are finding good form. Robert Hill has been named in the best on 7 out of 12 occasions this year, and has been one of the Stingrays best players this year, while Jai Sheahan kicked 2 goals last week in a best on ground performance, for the Falcons. Both teams will need to be at their best, and it will be a tough contest in the match of the round.
