Calder Cannons vs. Northern Knights, Highgate Recreation Reserve;
Calder continues their climb up the ladder, with a big win on the weekend against a strong opposition in North Ballarat by 67 points. Rory Atkins was the standout with 8 goals in a best on ground performance, with Paul Sahlberg also dominating with 6 goals. With finals football now a huge chance for the Knights, they are looking to make the most of their opportunities, with a hard fought win over Murray Bushrangers by 8 points. James Kroussoratis and Nicholas Maric both kicked 3 goals, with Billy Longer yet again dominating in the ruck.
Murray Bushrangers vs. North Ballarat Rebels, WJ Findlay Oval;
Both teams are coming off losses on the weekend, and will be looking to get a win this Saturday. Sebastian Ross dominated on the weekend for the Rebels, with 34 possessions, with Tony Lockyer also playing very good with a goal next to his name. Lachlan Howe was the best for the Bushrangers last weekend, kicking 6 goals straight and being the best player for his side. This will be a very close encounter, whichever team plays consistent football on the day will come out victorious.
Gippsland Power vs. Sandringham Dragons, Morwell Football Ground;
Gippsland are going to come out strong and look to make amends after a shock loss to Oakleigh on the weekend by 12 points. Sandringham are also coming off a shock loss to Dandenong by 13 points. Jackson Coleman kicked 5 for the Dragons on the weekend, and Lachlan Boyd also kicked 4. Jordan Staley kicked 3 on the weekend for the Power, while Sam Docherty was the standout.
Geelong Falcons vs. Western Jets, Skilled Stadium;
Geelong are coming off a win against the Ranges last weekend by 56 points, and they come up against the inform Western Jets, who just can’t stop winning. Andrew Boseley was the best for the Falcons, while Samuel Gordon kicked 5 and Jai Sheahan kicked 4. The Jets won comfortably on the weekend by 90 points over Bendigo, with Ashlin Brown kicking 7, and Sean Blake being the best player for them. This will be a very interesting match, because Geelong rarely lose in Geelong and the Jets are as hot as any team at the moment.
Oakleigh Chargers vs. Bendigo Pioneers, Warrawee Park;
Oakleigh Chargers are coming off a great win over Gippsland by 12, while the Pioneers suffered a big loss, going down to Western Jets by 90 points. Antony Forato dominated in the ruck for the Chargers on the weekend, racking up 30 hit outs for the match, while Daniel Pearce kicked 2 in a best on ground performance. Zac May was the dominant big man on the ground last week in a losing side for the Pioneers, while Sam Heavyside kicked 2 goals.
Eastern Ranges vs. Dandenong Stingrays, Box Hill City Oval;
The Ranges suffered a 56 point loss to Geelong last weekend, while the Stingrays are finding form at the right time of the year, beating Sandringham by 13 points. Anthony Papa kicked 3 goals for the Ranges on the weekend, while Tim Jones was their best with 26 possessions. Dandenong shared the work load on the weekend, with 11 players kicking a goal. Nicholas Haynes was their best, while Alex Benbow had a game high 13 tackles. In their last encounter, Dandenong got up by 2 points, this should be a close game.
