We have made it to the finals now of the TAC Cup season 2011, and with any team being capable of beating any opposition on their given day; this should be a great finals series as Ben Cavarra previews this weekend’s action
Qualifying Final 1; Calder Cannons vs Dandenong Stingrays, Visy Park (Princes Park) Saturday;
Calder have been around the top of the table for majority of the year and have rightly deserved their spot, finishing on top of the ladder. Dandenong, after a slow start to the year, are finding their form when they need it, and this game could go either way. Calder beat Gippsland on the weekend by 30 points, with Liam McBean kicking 4 and being their best player, while Brandyn Grenfell dominated in the ruck with 25 hit-outs. Dandenong continued their good from with a 72 point win over Bendigo, Todd Elton was their best and also kicked 3 goals, with Ryan Morrison also being very impressive. This should be a very close game with both teams capable of playing brilliant football.
Qualifying Final 2; Sandringham Dragons vs Gippsland Power, Visy Park (Princes Park) Saturday;
This match will be a very close game, as both teams have been two of the most consistent performers of the year. Gippsland lost to Calder last weekend by 30 points, with Jordan Staley dominating the ruck with 23 hit-outs, and also doing it up forward with 4 goals, Clay Smith was also very impressive with 38 disposals. Geelong have lost their past two games, to drop to eighth position on the ladder, but as every team knows, they are capable of playing great football.
