Vic Country travels to Perth this Sunday to take on their Round 3 opponent Western Australia at Patersons Stadium.
They enter this Division One contest with the best preparation, having beaten NSW/ACT and Queensland by 9 and 94 points respectively.
On the other hand, Western Australia’s first two games have resulted in a 2 point loss to Queensland and a 66 point victory over NSW/ACT.
These outcomes make for an interesting matchup between two historically strong state sides.
Vic Country coach, Mark Ellis, suggests that his line up will alter from their previous contest.
“There will be some changes for this week. Some boys that played in game one will come in for game three. It is as much about the development of individuals and allowing boys the opportunity to experience footy at another level.”
Ellis has been impressed by his side’s performances thus far in the competition and reasons this to a complete team effort.
“The boys were terrific in both games. With players coming from all around Country Vic, we have to be diligent with preparation and the support of all staff has played a significant role in the preparation for the first two games.”
However, they will have to put forward their best performance to challenge the home side.
“The Western Australia boys are a strong skilful team and are playing well. Playing at home will be good for them also.”
Mark Ellis believes that his side has grown as a result of their Round 1 contest interstate and will be better prepared for their game on Sunday.
“As a group, staff included it (Round 1) was probably an advantage for us. It gave the boys a terrific opportunity to experience each other’s company. They conducted themselves extremely well.”
“We feel we are well prepared and it is exciting for the boys as some did not travel for game one. The program really does allow the boys to experience something different,” Ellis said.
