Gippsland Power suffered their first defeat of the season, toppled by North Ballarat Rebels last weekend by 29 points.
The win rocketed the Rebels to top spot on the ladder at the half way mark of the season.
North Ballarat coach David Loader felt the game was a good demonstration of the top two teams.
“It was a fantastic game of contested footy. A match where 8 goals to 4 were scored highlights how tough and tight the contest was.
“We were unsure at the start of the year with what our group would produce and I guess reaching top of the ladder didn’t even enter my mind.
“But we are playing our own style of footy and week in week out each member of the team is putting in their best effort,” Loader said.
Both teams will look forward to the return of Vic Country players this weekend as North Ballarat remain home to take on Sandringham, and Gippsland return home to take on Bendigo.
