Three TAC Cup players were last week named as Father/Son selections prior to the NAB AFL Draft. Jack Viney (Oakleigh Chargers - Melbourne), Lachlan Hunter (Western Jets - Western Bulldogs) & Joe Daniher (Calder Cannons - Essendon) have been confirmed as selections that will be made by their respective AFL clubs on Thursday November 22.
The clubs took part in a ‘bidding meeting’ for the players nominated under the father / son rule for this year's 2012 NAB AFL Draft, as part of the Gillette AFL Exchange Period.
The details of each clubs nominated draft selection are as follows:
Jack Viney (Oakleigh Chargers/Casey Scorpions, son of Todd Viney, 233 games for Melbourne) – Melbourne, Round Two (currently number 26). Port Adelaide bid its Round One selection (currently number seven) and this was matched by Melbourne with its next selection in Round Two (currently number 26). The Melbourne FC is now bound to select Viney at the 2012 NAB AFL Draft with its round two selection.
Joe Daniher (Calder Cannons, son of Anthony Daniher, 118 games for Essendon) – Essendon, Round One (currently number 10). Port Adelaide bid its Round One selection (currently number seven) and this was matched by Essendon with its next selection in Round One (currently number 10). The Essendon FC is now bound to select Daniher at the 2012 NAB AFL Draft with its round one selection.
Lachlan Hunter (Western Jets, son of Mark Hunter, 130 games for the Western Bulldogs) – Western Bulldogs, Round Three (currently number 46). North Melbourne bid its Round Two selection (currently number 35) and this was matched by the Western Bulldogs with its next selection in Round Three (currently number 46). The Western Bulldogs are now bound to select Hunter at the 2012 NAB AFL Draft with its round three selection.
