The AFL Victoria TAC Cup fixture has now been released.
In 2013, the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) will continue their long term partnership with AFL Victoria’s premier under 18 competition; the 22nd year they have supported the competition. 2012 proved to be another successful year for AFL Victoria’s TAC Cup competition, with 41 players selected via the NAB AFL Drafts and pre-selections.
This included 8 of the top 10 selections and the number one pick – Dandenong Southern Stingrays Lachie Whitfield. The TAC Cup recorded the highest amount of draftees and rookies across Australia, which highlights the strength of the talented player pathway in Victoria from the contribution of the 12 AFL Victoria TAC Region programs and the community leagues.
A number of regional areas will have the opportunity to experience TAC Cup matches this season with games fixtured for Warrnambool, Albury, Horsham and Shepparton, as well as regular home games in Morwell, Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo and Wangaratta.
The Eastern Ranges will also play their first competition games at Bayswater Oval since 1995, with two matches fixtured there this season.
12 AFL Victoria TAC Regions will again be part of the TAC Cup competition, with the additions of Queensland, NSW/ACT Rams and Tasmania in May in the lead up to the NAB AFL Under 18 Championships.
Fixture highlights include:
• Three TAC Cup games will feature Peter Jackson VFL matches as curtain raiser games
• 15 double header games throughout the season
• Bendigo Pioneers and North Ballarat Rebels with both feature in curtain raiser games for Peter Jackson VFL matches
The season kicks off with Metro Round on Sunday March 24. The 2013 AFL Victoria TAC Cup competition fixture is below.
