A host of players from AFL Victoria’s three premier competitions are supporting VicHealth’s H30 Challenge this season the aim of encouraging their fellow Victorian footballers and club supporters to switch sugary drinks for water.
Seven players have been selected as Ambassadors to support the campaign, including Peter Jackson VFL pair James Magner (Port Melbourne) and Sean Hetherington (Williamstown), Darcy Tucker (North Ballarat Rebels), Theo Thompson and Nicholas Pavlou (Sandringham Dragons) from the TAC Cup and Darcy Vescio (Darebin Falcons) and Steph Chiocci (Diamond Creek) from the Victorian Women’s Football League.
AFL Victoria CEO Steven Reaper said he hoped the example set by Ambassadors would encourage footy fans to make the switch as well.
“Health and wellbeing is a key focus for footballers at all levels,” Reaper said.
“It is pleasing we are able to partner with VicHealth to educate and promote to our football network, across VFL standalone clubs, the TAC Cup and VWFL, about hydration, the risks of sugary drinks, and making the switch to water.”
The AFL Victoria H30 Challenge Ambassadors will be documenting their challenge across social media, using the #h30challege hashtag, so be sure to check in regularly to see how they are going, or join them in the month long challenge.
All players will be featured across the various competition websites across the journey as well.
