North Melbourne champion Brent Harvey will become just the fourth player in VFL/AFL history to play 400 games this weekend.
The speedy 167cm man known as ‘Boomer’ will celebrate the rare milestone when the Kangaroos travel to the Gabba to face the Brisbane Lions on Saturday night.
The 37-year-old was drafted from the Northern Knights at pick No.47 way back in the 1995 AFL Draft after winning the best-on-ground medal in Northern’s TAC Cup premiership triumph that season.
The 1999 premiership player is a member of the North Melbourne Team of the Century and is a four-time All Australian and five-time Kangaroos best-and-fairest winner.
In a bumper weekend for AFL milestones, the following former TAC Cup and Peter Jackson VFL players will also notch up important numbers of games played:
- Former Oakleigh Charger and Carlton captain Marc Murphy (200 games);
- Former North Ballarat Rebel and ex-Brisbane captain Jed Adcock (200);
- Former North Ballarat Rebel, ex-Port Adelaide and now Richmond key defender Troy Chaplin (200);
- Former Sandringham Dragon, ex-Hawthorn and now Sydney midfielder Josh Kennedy (150);
- Former Gippsland Power player and NAB Rising Star winner, Essendon midfielder Dyson Heppell (100);
- Former Murray Bushrangers & now North Melbourne defenders Shaun Atley and Sam Wright (both 100);
- Former Dandenong Stingray and now Carlton key forward Levi Casboult (50);
- Former Frankston and Bendigo Bombers VFL player, Western Bulldogs forward Tory Dickson (50); and
- Former Oakleigh Charger and now GWS key-position player Adam Tomlinson (50).
