A number of TAC Cup players impressed in the early tests of the 2015 NAB AFL Combine.
Friday night was the one and only time during the Combine that the footballs were in action, with the clean hands, goalkicking and kicking tests.
Dandenong Stingrays defender Kieran Collins (pictured) missed a perfect score by one in the clean hands, leading the way with 29 ahead of Northern Knights pair Darcy MacPherson and Tyrone Leonardis with 28.
Players from the Knights featured in the top 5 of all three tests, with captain Jade Gresham one of four players to score a perfect 30 on the goalkicking, along with Calder Cannon Nick O’Kearney, Morrish Medal winning Murray Bushranger Clayton Oliver and South Australian Oleg Markov
In the final assessment, Tasmanian Mitchell Hibberd scored 24 on the kicking test, just ahead of Murray Bushranger Nick Coughlan with 23, Northern Knight Darcy MacPherson and Dandenong Stingray Thomas Glen 22.
The Day 3 Combine results were still being finalised on Saturday night, but the following were the best from the TAC Cup:
- North Ballarat Rebel Darcy Tucker led the way for the TAC Cup players in the beep test with 15.3, followed closely by Dandenong Stingray Jacob Weitering with a 15.1, while WA’s Josh Schoenfield recorded the second best Combine score ever with 16.2 to lead the way.
- Oakleigh Charger Alex Morgan and Dandenong Stingray Kurt Mutimer were the fastest in the 20 metre sprint with 2.88, while Eastern Ranges captain Liam Jeffs and North Ballarat Rebel Daniel Rioli were just behind on 2.89
- Stingray ruckman Gach Nyuon equalled Nic Naitanui’s absolute running jump record of 3.62m (combining highest point you can reach when jumping off the ground + running jump).
- North Ballarat Rebel Daniel Rioli recorded the best time for the repeat sprint with 24.16 seconds, ahead of Dandenong Stingray Tom Glen with 24.46 and Oakleigh Charger David Cuningham with 24.51
