Former North Ballarat VFL coach Gerard FitzGerald has been announced as the new North Ballarat Rebels coach.
A decade on, FitzGerald will return to a familiar role having coached the Rebels in 2005/2006 before his move to the Roosters for the second time.
During his first stint with the Rebels, he helped develop AFL draftees such as Nathan & Mitchell Brown, James Frawley, Steven Clifton and Shaun Grigg, as well as future VFL talent for the Roosters of the calibre of J.J. Liston Trophy winner Myles Sewell, 2015 co-captain Matt Austin and Lachie George.
FitzGerald has strong personal ties to the Rebels Talent Region of Western Victoria after growing up and still residing in Derrinallum, as well as coaching successfully within the Hampden Football League with the Mortlake and Camperdown Football Clubs.
He replaces David Loader who has accepted a Development Coach position at the North Melbourne Football Club.
FitzGerald will be one of two new coaches in 2016 in the TAC Cup, with Murray Bushrangers starting interviews shortly for a replacement for Darren Ogier.
