The U16 teams of the TAC Cup’s country clubs will face off over three rounds early in the season, starting on Saturday.
The Round 1 Murray Bushrangers-Bendigo Pioneers, Gippsland Power-Dandenong Stingrays and Geelong Falcons-North Ballarat Rebels matches will take place as curtain-raisers to the clubs’ U18 TAC Cup fixtures.
(Please note the match between Geelong and North Ballarat will be held at St Mary’s Football Ground, just outside Simonds Stadium where the U18s clash will be staged.)
Round 2 will see a triple-header take place the following Friday at Queen Elizabeth Oval in Bendigo from 11.30am, while the final matches will also be curtain-raisers for Round 3 TAC Cup fixtures.
Players will be hoping to impress new Vic Country U16 coach Matt Battistello ahead of the U16 Championships in July. This year’s group will have a tough task ahead of it to match the deeds of last year’s U16 Vic Country team, which went through the Championships undefeated.
