PINK POWER: Whorouly’s Stacey Bunn and Bryce Hooper model the pink uniforms the Lions netball and football players will don for Saturday’s clash with Benalla. Whorouly FNC has been a huge supporter of Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) Pink Sports Days over the past seven years, and will once again be fundraising for the organisation tomorrow. All money raised from sales of BCNA merchandise, donations, and profits from the sale of uniforms will go directly to BCNA. PHOTO: Luke Plummer
WHOROULY takes on Benalla All Blacks tomorrow with the Lions hoping to replicate their form against Greta and secure their second win of the year.
Lions coach Nathan Hooper kicked 13 goals in his first win in charge and was named his side’s best player, while ruckman Paul Glanville and midfielder Corey Southern mopped up around the ground and constantly sent the ball into attack.
The Panthers came away from their round five match against King Valley 45 points in arrears, after being held to just one point in the last quarter by the Valley Roos.
Whorouly assistant Scott McMasters said winning the contested football is vital.
“Winning the ball on the ground has been a focus as a club for a while now,” he said.
“Winning that hard ball is something we have a lot of depth with across the board, and it is the catalyst for our team to play well.
“If we win or break even in the contested football count, we know that will go a long way to win, or be in a position to win, the game.”
