EFFORT THERE FOR O&K: Maddy Muller lines up a goal for the Ovens and King’s under 17 interleague netball side during Saturday’s clash with the Tallangatta and District league. While the O&K girls showed plenty of fight, a slow start proved costly as they went down by 14 goals. PHOTO: Luke Plummer
THEY were not the results the Ovens and King junior interleague squads were looking for on Saturday with the under 15s falling 35-26, while the under 17s went down 49-35 to Tallangatta and District.
But O&K under 15 coach Bianca Ely said she was pleased with how the side communicated.
“There was a lot of direction and encouragement on the court,” Ely said.
“That is a big thing for a young group, they come from eight different clubs, and they gelled really well and came together to play some good netball.
“It wasn’t the result we were after, but I was happy with the effort.”
Jorja Reidy was named best on court.
“Jorja was great for us, she played goal defence and was the only player to play out the whole match,” she said.
“Hannah Ely from Goorambat was a strong point for us when she was shooting, she steadied the side.
“Keely Tua was also handy when she played in centre.”
