KING Valley remains just percentage outside the top-six, following their 24-point win over rivals Moyhu on Saturday.
The Roos needed to win to remain within striking distance of sixth-placed Bright, with an opening quarter barrage of Moyhu goal attempts almost derailing their finals hopes.
Moyhu kicked 2.6 to King Valley’s 4.2, with two extra scoring shots the Hoppers’ threatened to blow the game open, before the Roos kicked into gear to play more efficient football.
The Hoppers’ erased the eight-point quarter time lead, readjusting their radar in front of goal to boot 4.3 to 3.2, and going into the long break down by just a point, and a thriller of a match seemed to be in the making between the two Wangaratta-Whitfield Road enemies.
A stingy defence-minded King Valley emerged from the change rooms for the second half, a team approach to lifting their pressure around the football squashed Moyhu’s scoring ability, as the Roos allowed just 1.1 for the third quarter, to kick 4.4 themselves opening up a 22-point lead at three quarter time.
The Roos added two points to the final margin in the last term, managing to kick 2.3 to 2.1, to register their seventh win of the season with the four goal win.
