KING Valley is through to its third straight Ovens and King A grade grand final after defeating Greta by six goals on Saturday.
The Roos were unable to play the match on their terms early, with Greta’s first half pressure defence limiting their forward thrusts.
Jess Bussell’s defence against King Valley’s star shooter Larissa Benci was a highlight all game, disrupting the Roos’ scoring prowess to see the Blues hold a 13-11 lead at quarter time.
The second term got under way with a spirited Greta continuing its strong team defence, but King Valley slowly started to get its game running, scoring freely as Rachael Cavallin and Benci read off each other well.
The Blues were kept in the match at the end of the second term through the long range shooting efficiency of Taylah Reidy, who stretched the defenders off the ring and nailed her shots as her team rallied to end the half.
But another flurry of scores by King Valley saw the Roos steal the lead just before the halftime whistle, with a one-goal margin held by the reigning premiers.
