Winners join AFL Victoria's Academy programs

AFL Victoria is excited to announce a new partnership with Winners Sports Nutrition as the official energy bar and gel of our State Academy programs.

Winners will be the exclusive provider of energy bars, energy gels and protein bars for AFL Victoria’s Metro and Country State Academies– ensuring the highest quality nutrition is available to athletes throughout the season.

“Eat Natural, Be Active” has been the philosophy of Winners since it was founded in 2005. Winners Sustained Energy Bars and Winners Instant Energy Gels are developed in partnership with 2011 Tour de France Champion Cadel Evans and used and recommended by Scott Pendlebury.

“It is pleasing to have such a prominent and relevant brand like Winners support the Vic Country and Metro teams,” AFL Victoria High Performance Manager Anton Grbac said.

“Nutrition is a key focus in the education part of our Academy program, ensuring that our players eat right and know the foods that will help with match preparation and postgame recovery.”

The Academy programs in Victoria continue to provide over 50% of the total number of draftees to the AFL each year.

The Vic Metro and Country squads will be announced in April for the 2015 NAB AFL U18 Championships, with the sides to meet in Round 1 on Sunday May 24 at Simonds Stadium.
