Jets Soar Above Rebels
A FASTER, more efficient Western Jets outfit broke free of North Ballarat Rebels for a five-goal win at Eureka Stadium yesterday.
The Jets, only three points up at half-time, piled on seven goals to the Rebels’ in the third quarter for the buffer they needed in the TAC Cup under-18 battle.
North Ballarat coach David Loader said uncharacteristic play crept into the Rebels game, which the Jets quickly exposed.
“A lot of our players had big workloads coming into this match and unfortunately weren’t up to it,” Loader said.
“The Jets came to play and put in a better show at the contested footy.
“They are a very quick side and able to create goals very quickly.”
The Jets scored the opening goal before three unanswered goals to the Rebels set up a 10-point lead by quarter-time.
Play became a scoreless deadlock for the second half of the second quarter after the Jets had edged ahead.
The Rebels were forced to work hard for each goal while the Jets seemed to take off in effortless bursts.
Onballer Coleman Schache was relentless in his efforts across the ground in a best on ground performance for the Rebels.
