TAC CUP Preview
All roads lead to Norm Minns Oval this week with the Round 8 TAC CUP game between the Murray Bushrangers and Sandringham Dragons played as curtain raiser to the Ovens & Murray vs Hampden League clash.
The day will kick off at 12.00pm with some of the best young football talent in the country on display.
Murray Bushrangers Coach Darren Ogier was buoyed by the Round 7 victory over New South Wales and goes into the game confident of another good performance from the young Bushies.
‘We demonstrated solid form in our last game and the boys took a lot of confidence out the way they worked hard for each other in tough conditions. The boys are really gelling together well and you can see a real energy at training that is pleasing the coaching staff’.
‘Having said that there is no bigger challenge in the TAC CUP than coming up against the Sandringham Dragons who last season has three players drafted in the top 10. They have a number of talented players who will no doubt test our defensive pressure and willingness to work for each other’.
The Bushrangers are further buoyed by the form of Victorian Country representatives Nathan Drummond (Mooroopna) and Caleb Marchbank (Benalla) who were both named in the best players in Vic Country’s stirring win over their city counterparts in round of the National Carnival.
These boys will be looking to continue their form as will captain Nick Mellington (Benalla), half back Dan Howe (Rennie / Yarrawonga) and key position player Mitch Mahady (North Albury) who have been in good form over recent weeks.
The Bushrangers are pleased to have David Mennen (Benalla) return to the side and young Albury Tiger product Nick Coughlan will return for his first TAC CUP in 14 months after being a late withdrawal in Round 7.
The Bushrangers are also pleased to have a number of squad members playing interleague football this week, we with those boys and their respective leagues all the best this weekend.
