SIX MURRAY BUSHRANGERS TO REPRESENT
VICTORIAN COUNTRY IN THE 2014 UNDER 16
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Murray Bushrangers are pleased to confirm that six players have been selected in the final squad 25 to represent the Victorian Country in the Under 16’s National Carnival.
Following solid form for the Murray Bushranger under 16’s the following players will head to the Gold Coast on the 4th July for three games against South Australia, Western Australia and Vic Metro.
Jy Simpkin (Mooroopna)

Jy is a talented on-baller who demonstrated his pace and ball winning ability through the midfield during the Bushrangers Under 16 campaign. A Mooroopna boy Jy made his senior debut this season where he kicked 3 goals and have over 20 possessions.

Tom Gardiner (Mansfield)
Tom is an electrifyingly quick ball winner who can play forward, back or through the middle of the ground. Tom has continued to improve over the last 6 months including great form in the Victorian Country trial games.

Wil Brodie (Notre Dame)
|
Wil is a talented inside midfielder who has the ability to win his own football, distribute effectively and kick goals when up forward. Coming off a restricted pre-season Brodie’s form has progressed each week which has included some good form in recent trial matches.
Lachlan Waite (Seymour)
|
Lachie is a talented key position player who impressed with a great attitude and work ethic across the forward line throughout the Under 16 carnival. Lachie has strong hands and an ability to kick the big goal at crucial times.
Ned Nihill (Nathalia)
|
Ned is a tall athletic key defender who has the ability to move forward or play in the ruck. Following a big pre-season Ned was instrumental in the Bushies undefeated Under 16 carnival as a tall defender.

Jake Page (Albury)
Jake is a talented running player who can provide drive off half back, half forward or through the middle of the ground. Jake’s form has continued to improve where he continues to break the game open with his ball winning ability and running power.

Emergency:
Mason Marr (Wodonga) Co-Captain of the Murray Bushrangers Under16 team Mason is a hard working midfielder who despite coming of an injury riddled pre-season has continued to improve. Mason’s leadership and ball winning ability was pivotal in the success of the Bushies in 2014.
The Murray Bushrangers would also like to acknowledge squad members Doug Crawford (Mansfield), George Haynes (Wodonga), Isaac Wallace (injured – Wodonga) & Harry Morrison (injured Benalla) who will continue to train with the TAC CUP squad in preparation for the 2015 pre-season.
Murray Bushranger under 16 Coach Justin McMahon is an assistant coach for the Victorian Country team and High Performance Manager Matt Glossop will co-ordinate the fitness program during the carnival.
All at the Murray Bushrangers would like to wish the boys all the best for the upcoming carnival and look forward to their continued improvement through the Murray Bushrangers in coming seasons.
The Club would also like to congratulate each of the local clubs represented above, without the dedication of numerous volunteers and club coaches these boys would not have these tremendous opportunities.
