Eight Murray Bushrangers have been named to represent the New South Wales / ACT in Division 2 of the 2014 AFL under 18 National Championships.
The Murray Bushrangers would like to wish all boys best of luck for the National Carnival which provides a great opportunity to further develop both on and off the field.
Dylan McDonald (Albury) - McDonald is a member of the AIS Level 1 squad and has been in great form as a bottom age Murray Bushranger throughout early part of the season. An elite runner, Dylan has enormous courage, the ability to break the lines and use the ball well.
Brydon Hodgson (Lavington) - Hodgson has continued to develop in his second season at the Murray Bushrangers. The strong bodied midfielder has the ability to win his own football, use it creatively and hit the scoreboard. Hodgson has also played some great senor football with the Lavington Panthers over the last two seasons.
Kieran Ellis (Albury) - 19 year old Kieran Ellis has been is scintillating form for the Bushrangers across half back, where his leadership and ball use has been a highlight. Kieran will provide great direction and driver across half back for the RAMS during the carnival.
Jim Carroll (Wagga / Albury) - Carroll is a strong bodied inside midfielder who has improved in his first season with the Murray Bushrangers. Originally from Wagga Jimmy has the innate ability to win the football has clean quick hands, marks well overhead and is a penetrating right foot kick.
Dougal Howard (Wagga / Albury) - Super Athletic with an outstanding competitive attitude, Dougal is another Wagga boy who is improving each week with the Murray Bushrangers. At 195cm Howard has the ability to play all over the ground including in the Ruck where has demonstrated his elite speed and athleticism.
Mitchell Mahady (North Albury) - Mahady commenced with the Bushrangers as a goal kicking forward with the ability to take a strong mark, this was highlighted with his 5 goals against the Bendigo Pioneers early in the season. Mahady has continued to develop his game in recent weeks as a key defender, his athleticism and ability to read the ball in air has been a real highlight.
Isaac Muller (Henty / North Albury) - The big man from Henty has been a revelation this year as the Murray Bushrangers number 1 ruckman. Muller leads the competition for hit outs and has developed his game as a versatile marking ruckman and forward target.
Nick Coughlan (Albury) - Following 12 months on the sidelines with a foot injury Coughlan, a Level 2 AIS member has displayed his talents over the past month with the Murray Bushrangers. Playing predominantly up forward Coughlan demonstrated his class last week with 5 goals in a dominant display.
It is a reflection on our region that twelve players (8 New South Wales / ACT & 4 Victorian Country) have the opportunity to show their skills in the 2014 National Championships.
We would like to acknowledge the local club coaches and volunteer who continue to provide young talent, we would also like to thank the dedicated staff at the Murray Bushrangers who take great pride in the ongoing development of young athletes.
