The Murray Bushrangers will play their most important game of the year when they head to Box Hill City Oval to take on the Eastern Ranges this Saturday. The two sides have been jossling for 8th spot on the ladder all season and it will all come down to this weekend’s crucial clash.
Bushrangers Coach Darren Ogier was confident the boys were ready of what promises to be a showcase game of TAC CUP football. “The energy within the group is good, they realize what is at stake and we have committed to playing finals football, this is elimination final”.
“It is a real bonus that the squad will head down to Melbourne on the Friday night to prepare for the game”. “We will have a light run on the Box Hill City Oval on Friday afternoon before finalizing our preparations, it is a great opportunity to spend time together before the game”
Whilst the Bushrangers will be without VFL pair Dan Howe (Richmond) and Isaac Muller (Essendon) they welcome back Mooroopna trio in Jy Simpkin, Nathan Drummond and Michael Reidy. The side will also be boosted by hard running midfielder Jake Marshall (Deniliquin) and key big man Ryley Sharp (Myrtleford).
The Bushrangers are pleased to confirm the debut of 15 year old young gun Will Brodie from Notre Dame. Will has progressed through the Bushrangers Under 16 squad earlier in the season before playing for Vic Country in the Under 16 Nationals. Wills form in that carnival earned him an invitation into the AFL Academy Program as one of the top 25 juniors in the Country.
Ogier described Brodie ‘as an elite ball winning midfielder who at 184cm can push forward and penetrate the scoreboard’. “Will’s form throughout the year has been outstanding and he continues to raise to the required level, we are confident he will find his feet at TAC CUP level”.
This weekend’s game is on Saturday 16 August from 11.00am at the Box Hill City Oval.
