70 young footballers have been invited to commence pre-season training for the Murray Bushrangers Under 16 squad who will participate in the Victorian Country Championships throughout March and April.
Talent Manager Lee Fraser congratulated those players selected in what was a tough process for the clubs coaches and recruiting staff. ‘The club conducted September trial games which combined with feedback from recruiters at both interleague and local club level has resulted in a strong list of talented footballers from across the region’. ‘It was a very tough process to get to our final squad but logistically it is important that we maintain our pre-season squad numbers of just over 70”
The UNDER 16 squad comprises players who reside in Victoria (There is a specific AFL NSW/ACT program for players who live in New South Wales) who will participate in fitness testing when training commences on November 23 at the Wangaratta Sports Development Centre.
Fraser highlighted the importance of this program for talented youngsters ‘A full preseason is a valuable development tool for players entering their 16th year, it gives them a clear understanding of the work that is required to play in the TAC CUP.
“It is always an exciting time of year when we give young footballers the opportunity to participate in the Murray Bushrangers Pre-Season. But it is only an opportunity; it is now up to the players themselves to make the most of that opportunity”
Fraser was full of praise for local clubs and parents who provide a great environment that fosters the development of local talent “As a football club the Murray Bushrangers benefit greatly from the energy of our local coaches and volunteers who continue to produce talented footballers who are now ready to take the next step in their football careers”.
