A TRIPLE premiership-winning player in Hawthorn's golden era in the late 80s and early 90s, Andy Collins gave tips during Saturday afternoon's intense on-field workout at the Bendigo Pioneers Football Club's pre-season camp.
Despite the scorching temperature, the Pioneers impressed Collins with their workrate and enthusiasm.
Now coach at Williamstown in the Victorian Football League, Collins was keen to support Brett Henderson in the lead-up to his first season as the Pioneers coach in the TAC Cup under-18s competition.
The on-field drills instigated in the workout with Collins was followed by video analysis from last season's AFL preliminary final between Hawthorn and Port Adelaide.
A theme of Collins message was about competitiveness and attitude.
The Pioneers camp kicked off Friday night in which Essendon premiership player Scott Lucas was a guest speaker and ran some on-field drills.
The camp winds up Sunday afternoon at Epsom-Huntly Recreation Reserve.
