The spotlight shines on Bendigo this weekend where the Murray Bushrangers tackle in form North Ballarat Rebels in TAC CUP Country Round. All six Country regions will play a triple header this Saturday in what is one of the biggest weekends in the TAC CUP calendar.
The Murray Bushrangers sit second on the ladder and will be striving for 3 wins to start the season in what could be their toughest test thus far. Bushrangers coach Darren Ogier is fully aware of what lies ahead ‘North Ballarat have quality players at their disposal, their leg speed and ability to run through the middle of the ground will be a great challenge our group’.
‘The midfield led by Marshall, Waite, Brodie, Simpkin, Oliver, Luke & Bowen Smith have been super through winning contested ball and spreading both offensively and importantly defensively, it is a cliché but your ability to defend and pressure the opposition will often determine the result’.
Up forward the Bushrangers will be looking for young North Albury gun Josh Minogue to continue his strong start to the season. Max Canfield (Yarrawonga), Trent McMullan (Wodonga) & Ryley Sharp will provide key focal targets.
The Bushrangers have made two forced changes to the team with Lachie Leeds (Jerilderee) suffering a finger injury and Luke McKeown’s (Numurkah) shoulder causing him to miss 1 -2 weeks.
The provides a great opportunity to two younger members of the squad with bottom age duo Chris Welsh (Benalla) and Jake Page (Albury) both making their TAC CUP debut.
This weekend’s game commences this Saturday 11th April at 3.30pm at the Queen Elizabeth Oval with the Under 16’s taking on the Geelong Falcons on Friday 10th April at 3.30pm.
