The 3rd placed Murray Bushrangers will take on one of the metropolitan powerhouses in the Sandringham Dragons this Saturday at Norm Minns Oval in Wangaratta.
The Bushrangers head into the clash full of confidence after winning their last two games over the Calder Cannons & New South Wales / ACT Rams
Recovery has been the main focus of the squad this week with High Performance Manager Matt Glossop running a program to ensure the players recovery from a 6 day break and a bruising contest against the Rams. “The boys professionalism with their recovery techniques are critical to their performance week in week out, to their credit the squad have been diligent with ice baths, physiotherapy and recovery being the main focus particularly early in the week” Glossop said.
Bushranger’s coach Darren Ogier said the Bushrangers will be keen to take on one of the powerhouses of the competition “Sandringham always provide a strong opposition, they beat us in last year semi-final with their ability to run and create opportunities up forward”. “Coming off a tough game last week our boys will need to start extremely well and put early pressure on the opposition”.
The Bushrangers will be aiming to utilise their mobile tall forward line with Yarrawonga’s Max Canfield, Wodonga’s Trent McMullan & North Albury’s Josh Minogue all providing strong targets up forward. The midfield will be led by Wangaratta’s Murray Waite, Benalla’s David Mennen & Albury’s Dylan McDonald.
The Bushrangers welcome another debutant this week with Albury youngster Zachary Sproule making his debut for the club. “Young Zach is a good young talent who has had to recover from a knee injury suffered in the pre-season, he has worked hard and deserves his opportunity”.
Mooroopna’s Clayton Oliver & Mansfield’s James Cousins also return to strengthen the Bushrangers midfield brigade. The game will be played at Norm Minns Oval from 1.00pm this Saturday afternoon.
