The Murray Bushrangers presented a Hume Bank cheque for $440 to the Wangaratta RSL earlier this month. Talent Manager Lee Fraser said that each player and staff member provided a gold coin donation for meals that were prepared after training each night.
“The Murray Bushrangers have great support from a dedicated volunteer catering committee made up of former and current parents, family members and siblings who provide nutritious meals for the players and staff after each training session”. “With the amount of travel our squad is required to do on a weekly it is vital that everyone receives a good meal straight after training”.
Wangaratta’s Murray Waite who is a member of the Murray Bushrangers leadership group confirmed the initiative of the club to raise monies for important causes “This year we had the privilege of playing a TAC CUP game on Anzac Day here at the Wangaratta Showgrounds, in honor of this the leadership group decided that our fundraising be dedicated to the Wangaratta RSL Welfare Fund”
Wangaratta RSL President Dr Warren Grant appreciated the donation “These funds will be used to provide welfare services to veterans, their families and dependents. These services, in the current year, have included such things as scholarships for local students, subsidies for children attending Portsea camp, the training of rescue dogs for ex-servicemen suffering post traumatic stress, the Salvation Army and the like”
The Murray Bushrangers will continue to support a variety of organisations throughout the season with monies raised throughout June going towards FREEZE MND.
