The Murray Bushrangers 2015 TAC Cup season is over after suffering a 6 point loss for the second consecutive week; this time to Oakleigh Chargers at IKON Park in Carlton. The Bushrangers were left to rue a three goal run from the Chargers during the third term which ultimately cost the game.
After going down by 6 points to the Stingrays last week, the Bushrangers were keen to atone and after some nervous early football, they went into the first change level. The second term saw the Bushrangers and Chargers trade the lead several times with Oakleigh holding a three point lead at the main break.
The third term was tight for the first 14 minutes until Oakleigh kicked three consecutive goals and took control of the game and led by 10 points at the last change. The Bushrangers outscored the Chargers in the final term, but they were left to rue the head start and as the final siren sounded, the Chargers led by 6 points mush to the disappointment of the Bushrangers players and supporters.
Clayton Oliver was superb with 2 classy goals through the midfield. Key forward Josh Schache was able to kick 2 goals as well as pinch hit in the ruck and took several telling marks in defence.
Albury’s Lachlan Tiziani did his draft prospects no damage after a superb game in defence and continually won contested possessions and drove the ball long and accurately from defence into attack and kicked a quality goal towards the end of the game.
Murray Waite continued his super season with another high quality game with winning a multitude of possessions. Bottom age player Will Brodie in his return game from a broken hand, showed he will be a leader in 2016 with courage and ball winning ability a highlight of his game
