7 Murray Bushrangers will grace the MCG on AFL Grand Final Day this Saturday 3 October in the Annual AFL Allies vs AFL ACADEMY clash. The game provides 2015 draft prospects from division 2 states with a further opportunity to push their claims when they are placed against the best 17 years olds (2016 draft prospects) in the country.
AFL ALLIES
Albury’s Nick Coughlan will be playing for the Allies where he will line up as a key defender, Nick was recently named in the TAC CUP team year following an outstanding season at both TAC and VFL (Footscray) level.
After the dissapointment of missing the TAC CUP finals series Denilliquins Jakes Marshall will get the opportunity to impress AFL Recruiters. A natural leader the hard working midfielder has put together a very good season with the Murray Bushrangers and with New South Wales / ACT in the 2015 National Championships.
Following an electrifying TAC CUP finals series Albury’s Lachlan Tiziani will get the opportunity to once again perform on the big stage . With speed to burn and excellent skills, Tiziani has performed well through the midfield and as a rebounding defender throughout 2015.
Yarrawonga’s Max Canfield who suffered a broken jaw in the middle of the season get his opportunity to impress AFL Recruiters on the MCG this weekend. At 195 centimeters Max is blessed with elite running ability, clean hands and very good skills, he can play all over the ground including as a tall midfielder.
AFL ACADEMY
Shepparton’s Wil Brodie who was named Best of Ground in his most recent game representing the Academy is an inside midfielder who continues to win the contested ball. Already seen as a draft prospect for 2016, Brodie’s leadership and ability to set up the play will be a feature for the Murray Bushrangers next season.
Albury’s Zach Sproule with his 2015 Ovens & Murray premiership medal safely tucked away will get the opportunity to compete with some elite talent. At 194 centimeters Sproule looms as a powerful presences in the forward line where his strong marking, work rate and kicking will be important to the Bushrangers 2016 campaign.
Mooroopna’s Jy Simpkin who was recently elevated to the AFL ACADEMY has had a stellar 2015 with the Murray Bushrangers and also with Victorian Country in the National Championships. Tough as nails with electrifying pace and skills Jy looms as a key to the Murray Bushrangers in the 2016 season.
“This has been a great initiative by the AFL ACADEMY as it provides a great on-field and off field benefits for both the selected 2015 draft eligible New South Wales boys and also the 17 year olds who will benefit enormously form the experience”.
