TAC CUP
The TAC Cup competition has developed a handsome reputation as being widely regarded in football circles, as the outstanding youth football competition in Australia. This reputation has been earned with high standards of preparation and competition at Club level and outstanding performances by Victorian teams at National Championships, which showcase players from all Under 18 Clubs. With the charter to assist players development towards their full potential, the immediate impact of Football Victoria Under 18's in the AFL Draft, suggests it is achieving part of its goal with now close to 1000 AFL players having progressed through AFL Victoria Under 18's. In 2016, 44 TAC Cup players were drafted into the AFL, with the top 5 players selected all coming from TAC Cup clubs. Many others are returning to other Regional/State League levels of football and displaying talent indicative of their Under 18 background. Being originally a six team Melbourne metropolitan competition with one team from Geelong/Ballarat, Football Victoria Under 18's had grown to a 14 team competition with representative teams from Country Victoria and Interstate. 2003 saw NSW/Act and Tasmania drop out of the competition bringing it back to 12 teams but they will be involved in some TAC Cup games along with Queensland and the Northern Territory.
In 2017, the Under 18 TAC Girls Cup kicked off with a five game program. This is a proud achievement in the club to contribute towards the growth of womens football. We are looking forward to many of our girls being drafted into the AFLW competition.
