When taking on the reigning premiers you know you're in for a fight. Unfortunately, when you have three missing key players for that fight, it can turn into a very onesided ugly affair.
The Jets began the game with some good pressure, they weren't allowing any easy goals and their efforts at the ball were strong. Geelong would eventually breakthrough, after five minutes into the opening quarter the Falcons kicked their first. Mistakes starting creeping into the Jets as Falcons pressure turned into a flurry of goals. The quickness and skill of Geelong was something that Western struggled to combat as they showed Western why they are on top of the ladder. Center clearances were dominated by Falcons, the Western Jets forward line was completely starved of opportunity for two quarters.
The pain continued for the second half as Geelong was determined to finish off a strong four-quarter performance. Western Jets managed one behind in the third term and that was all they received for the day. Elisabeth Georgostathis was brave in a losing side but her girls were not up to the task of competing with the reigning premiers.
Hero of the Day: Elisabeth Georgostahis
Tough day for the skipper, she didn't get as much ball as she usually does due to the immense pressure of Geelong. However, Georgostathis was still leading the disposal count with 14 and had six rebounds for the day. She is currently ranked fourth for defensive rebounds in the league totaling 26 for the season.
